July 13/Tacoma, WA: Removal Proceedings in Immigration Court - Model Hearing Program

Volunteer Advocates for Immigrant Justice (VAIJ), with the Tacoma Immigration Court and the Office of Chief Counsel of Immigration and Customs Enforcement will be presenting a Model Hearing Program (MHP) at the Immigration Court at the NW Detention Center in Tacoma.  The Model Hearing Program was developed by EOIR as a training tool for pro bono attorneys and new practitioners appearing before the Immigration Court. An Immigration Judge from the Tacoma Immigration Court and an attorney from the Office of Chief Counsel will participate in the training.
This training will present a case involving a client who has both mental health issues and an asylum claim which would be based on both the past persecution he had endured and the future persecution he would face if returned to his country with mental illness.
Note: Attendance at the training is capped at 35 people, as the courtroom space is limited. Register immediately to ensure seating by contacting Juliann Bildhauer at juliann@vaij.org
