April 9/Cleveland: Criminal Law, Immigration, and the Constitution #MCLE

Professor Chin is one of the nation's leading experts on criminal procedure and immigration law.
The Supreme Court's landmark 2010 opinion, Padilla v. Kentucky, relied extensively on Professor Chin's scholarship to conclude that criminal defense lawyers have a constitutional obligation to advise clients on potential immigration consequences of pleading guilty. He was a leading critic of the Arizona immigration statute, much of which was invalidated by the Supreme Court in 2012.
