May 9/London: #TUPE and Outsourcing - A Legal Update

The transfer of undertakings legislation has a reputation for complexity and unpredictability and never seems to stand still, with case law developments and now legislative reform proposals coming in thick and fast. TUPE [Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment)]is often one of the key issues to consider when preparing for an outsourcing.
In this seminar, speakers from Dechert's Employment and IP teams will provide a guide to the basic principles of TUPE, an update on recent case law and a summary of the current proposals for reform. An overview will also be included of the key legal, practical and data protection issues to be borne in mind when considering outsourcing.
This seminar is aimed at all those who deal with TUPE from the novice to the expert and whether from an HR or legal or business perspective. It should also be of interest for those wanting an overview of outsourcing. It will be followed by drinks to mark the launch of Charles Wynn-Evans' book, The Law of TUPE Transfers, recently published by Oxford University Press.
The topics to be covered in this seminar will include:
  • TUPE made simple - the basic principles
  • Recent TUPE case law
  • The outsourcing lifecycle - key legal and practical issues
  • Data protection issues in outsourcing
  • The Government’s proposals for TUPE reform.
