December 10: Web - From Alabama's Shame to Local Mobilization: Recent Developments in the Fight for Immigrant Justice at the State Level #MCLE

In 2011, Alabama enacted the most draconian anti-immigration law in the country: House Bill 56. In addition to the "show me your papers" provision present in Arizona Senate Bill 1070, HB 56 criminalized hiring and renting to illegal immigrants, among numerous other discriminatory and unconstitutional actions. In October 2013, major provisions of HB 56 were blocked after a successful challenge from the Southern Poverty Law Center and other groups. Please join us to hear from Sam Brooke, who was deeply involved in the litigation against HB 56 and anti-immigrant state laws in Georgia and South Carolina.
RSVP required.
