December 16: Web - Education for Kids in Care: What Judges and Attorneys Need to Know

Nationally, nearly half of youth who age out of foster care will not complete high school on time. Juvenile Court Procedural Rules in Pennsylvania ensure that education is addressed throughout the adjudicatory process, so youth can stay on track to graduate.
On December 16, from 12 PM - 1 PM EST, Juvenile Law Center and Education Law Center-PA are hosting a free webinar to provide information on how you can protect and advance the education rights of your clients through effective courtroom practices. This webinar is targeted to family court judges, attorneys, court staff, and other child-serving professionals.
Register now!
Topics to be covered include:
  • An overview of juvenile court rules focused on education
  • Educational Decisionmakers: Why, when, and whom to appoint
  • Judicial checklists with questions to ask about education
  • Model orders and sample findings regarding education
  • How judges can ensure children are evaluated for special education
  • Maintaining school stability
  • Special issues for youth in congregate care
