Title:From hallucinated cases to confidentiality concerns, the use of generative AI in the practice of law has raised challenging ethical questions for attorneys. This program brings together a panel of subject matter experts in AI and legal ethics to examine the applicable model rules, recent ABA and state ethics opinions, and emerging case law.
Topics include:
- Understanding the basics of ABA Formal Ethics Opinion 512 on generative AI tools
- Identifying which ABA Model Rules of Professional Responsibility apply when using generative AI
- How courts are treating privilege when attorneys use generative AI
- Recent disciplinary decisions involving attorney use of AI
