April 28: Artificial Intelligence in the Workplace: Legal Implications of Using AI in Employment Decisions

In this CLE, the presenter will present emerging issues and trends of any employer’s use of artificial intelligence for employment decision making. Discussion will include the new Equal Employment Opportunities Commission’s new Strategic Enforcement Plan and other attempts from state and local governments to combat the growing trend of bias and discrimination that is weaving its way into employers hiring, promotion, and firing decisions. The first few months of the Trump administration have been marked by the issuance of a flurry of executive orders, including orders impacting employer DEI efforts. These orders have been followed by new EEOC guidance on employer DEI policies. While the federal legal landscape regarding DEI has changed, California state law on this subject has not.
