In this program, state supreme court justices and federal judges will discuss why open, public, independent courts remain important and how to respond to a combination of pressures – decreased court funding despite a growing number of litigants without resources, the cost of lawyers, contracts mandating outsourcing adjudication to arbitration, and other efforts to privatize decision making.
