September 25: Construction Cost Estimating in a Turbulent World

Description:
Construction Cost Estimating in a Turbulent World is intended to help claims professionals learn to understand what it takes to summarize and analyze estimates from contractors and consultants in the midst of inflation, COVID-19, and a supply chain crisis. It’s not easy, but it is a valuable skill that can save lots of money.
Cost estimating is a profession with specialized skills, training, education, and certifications; but it’s not rocket science. There is some math, so it’s scary to a lot of people. There are many moving parts in a big estimate: designers, insurance, labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors… The list can go on and on.
So, how does a normal person without decades of experience or specialized training understand and evaluate an estimate in uncertain conditions? We are going to show you. Remember: Construction is not terribly difficult to understand. It's really just sticks and stones, and neatly stacked pieces of glass and steel. What makes it hard is the complexity; the sheer number of components requires an organizational system. We have one, and we present it in this 1-hour program.
