We will discuss mandatory and optional leaves of absence under California and federal law, pregnancy disability leave, paid sick leave, and California’s latest requirement regarding reproductive loss leave and bereavement leave. We will also address eligibility requirements, required notices, the continuation of health and/or other benefits, the mandatory or optional use of accrued leave, reinstatement rights, and state wage replacement benefits available for certain leaves. Finally, we will discuss best practices for managing employees on the various types of leave.
