This short CLE will cover the following topics:
- A constitutional law refresher, focusing on the separation of powers and the independence of the judicial branch.
- What’s meant by the concept of “Rule of Law.”
- What’s a “constitutional crisis” and how do you know that we’re in one (or not). Legal professionalsas guardians of the legal system.
- How to communicate with the public about the rule of law and the courts.
This CLE focuses on the Rule of Law in our constitutional democracy, threats to an independent judiciary and legal profession, and how to best communicate to the public about these important topics.
It is meant to fit in with the WSBA’s “Rule of Law Ambassadors” program, a program designed to support and equip lawyers to fulfill their responsibility to educate and engage with their local communities.
