Apr 13 DEADLINE: June 7-8 Pathways to Justice Conference Scholarships

The Pathways to Justice Conference, June 7-8, 2012 at UC Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, offers up to 10 MCLE credit. You may be able to attend free if you apply for a scholarship. According to the Scholarship Announcement: 

"Thanks to a grant from the California Bar Foundation, the State Bar of California is pleased to announce that a limited number of scholarships are available to cover registration fees for individuals interested in attending the Pathways to Justice Conference, June 7-8, 2012 at UC Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco. 
Scholarships are intended to enable legal services advocates, court staff or contractors and justice partners from small and rural programs that generally have fewer resources and opportunities for training to fully participate in Pathways to Justice.
Scholarships will cover the conference registration fee valued at $175 (the Early Bird 2-day rate for registrants from the nonprofit/court-affiliated/government setting).  Partial travel expenses may be provided on a very limited, case-by-case basis. Scholarship applicants will be required to submit an application by Friday, April 13, 2012. The State Bar staff will determine eligibility based on criteria below.
CRITERIAEligibility for scholarship awards are based on one or more of the following criteria:

• Staff from a main or branch office of a "qualified legal services provider" (grantee of the Legal Services Trust Fund Program, also referred to as an IOLTA-funded program) located in a rural area to be a speaker and/or attendee at the conference.
• Staff from a main or branch office of a 'qualified legal services provider" with qualified expenditures of $500,000 or less per office to be a speaker and/or attendee at the conference.
• Staff from a non-IOLTA funded entity providing legal assistance to low- or moderate-income individuals such as a court-based program, lawyer referral service, public interest law project, or other access to justice partner located in a rural area to be a speaker and/or attendee at the conference.
• Staff or a board member from any IOLTA or non-IOLTA funded program with compelling extenuating financial circumstances to be a speaker and/or attendee at the conference.
• Priority will be given to individuals from entities that did not send an attendee to the 2008 Pathways to Justice Conference in Los Angeles."
