May 9/Minneapolis: New Conversations About White Privilege #MCLE

Racism is not a thing of the past. Discrimination is still a fact of life for many people of color and immigrants, especially in housing, employment and education. Disparities in income, education achievement and representation in the criminal justice system have been created and are maintained by the complex set of conditions and relationships that result in institutional and systematical racism.
Being able to talk about race and racism openly is a first step in being able to address it during the practice of law and the administration of justice. This course is designed to address the next step, which is the "white privilege" factor when openly discussing how racism affects attorneys in their practices and their legal justice system as a whole.
Using the New Conversations About White Privilege (TM) discussion tool, participants in this CLE class will openly discuss scenarios and complete accompanying activities that are designed to help them explore and understand their perspectives and behaviors on the issue of "white privilege".
