May 6 / East Palo Alto, CA - Obstacles and Opportunities: eCommerce on Both Sides of the Atlantic

The law governing eCommerce in both the U.S. and the European Union is changing rapidly. A recent decision by the European Court of Justice addressed several important eCommerce issues, but it raised as many questions as it answered. In the U.S., courts have shed more light on how trademark and copyright law applies to eCommerce, but contradictions and inconsistencies remain. Whether your company sells goods on the Internet, builds platforms for electronic transactions or advertises on the web, new developments on both sides of the Atlantic will affect your business.

Bingham and Santa Clara Law's High Tech Law Institute invite you to join us for an interactive panel discussion on eCommerce in the U.S. and Europe and what you need to know about recent changes in the law. Topics to be discussed include:

* The European Court of Justice decision on the Google lawsuits
* The Second Circuit opinion in Tiffany v. eBay and the eBay disputes litigated in France
* The status and outcomes of keyword cases in the U.S.
* Recent first sale and fair use decisions
* Updates on the DMCA and related eCommerce statutes
