July 13/Indianapolis+Web - The Northwest Ordinance, Slavery, and Indiana, Wednesday, July 13, 2011 from 3:00 - 4:30 pm.

The program will examine the presence of the institution of slavery in Indiana despite its prohibition by both the Northwest Ordinance and the Indiana Constitution.  The speakers are Professor Paul Finkelman of Albany Law School and Dani Pfaff of the Indiana Historical Bureau.  They will discuss the topic of slavery in Indiana with a special emphasis on new details about the case of State v. Lasselle.
