This CLE is specifically created for the in-house attorney and will provide a crash course of insurance coverage, rights, duties and liabilities. We will examine the alphabet soup of insurance policies such EPL, E&O, D&O, CGL, CP, MPL and others, and the types of claims they are “supposed” to cover. Do you have a broker or an agent? Do you know what are “supposed to do”? We will cover the law of insurance ABC: Agents, Brokers and Consultants and break out who is supposed to do what for you and what you are always supposed to do for yourself.
Can you tell if your insurer has properly denied coverage or reserved it rights? Matt will show you the secret to reading insurance policies quickly and easily and explain what your rights are when the insurer accepts the claim subject to a reservation of rights.
Finally, we’ll take a look at the world of first party insurance litigation or DJ actions in the tri-state area to examine common claims and defenses and when you may be able to recover damages above the limit or your policy.
