This training focuses on issues in complex child and spousal support proceedings in Family Court such as discovery, willfulness, enforcement, imputed income, and support in split and shared custody arrangements. Procedural and substantive aspects will be discussed in detail. Training manuals and sample documents will be provided at the training.
A child and/or spousal support case will be assigned at the training or shortly thereafter to participants not already representing inMotion-referred clients in support or contested divorce matters. Attorneys can work on the case individually or as part of a team of two or more attorneys.
The assigned pro bono case will require one or more court appearances.
InMotion offers free, CLE-accredited, live trainings throughout the year in matrimonial, family and immigration law. Training sessions include a special focus on the impact of domestic violence on the lives of survivors and the challenges faced by immigrants.
Upon completing a training seminar, major law firm attorneys commit to taking a pro bono matter, either individually or as part of a team of two or more attorneys. Detailed practice manuals and sample documents are provided.
An inMotion attorney will be assigned to mentor you on your matter. Our experienced staff attorneys are available to consult with you, to answer questions and to review documents throughout your inMotion matter. Training videos are available for individuals who are unable to attend one of our scheduled training sessions. CLE credit is available for viewing our training videos.
Major law firm attorneys not yet admitted to the New York bar can work on a matter under the supervision of an admitted corporate law firm attorney pursuant to inMotion’s Student Practice Order. Contact inMotion for more information at CLEtrainings@inmotiononline.org.
Pre-registration is required for all trainings.
