February 18: Patent Eligibility and Section 101 Update

Patent eligibility continues to be an active topic in the courts, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and now Congress. This webinar will provide an update on all fronts, and synthesize disparate threads into a cohesive set of best practices for handling 101 issues in patent prosecution in particular. The focus will be on software, business methods, and other technologies that related to the “abstract idea” exception, though the issues and recommendations do cross over into the life sciences fields as well.
Topics will include:
  • Introduction and background
  • Current 101 framework
  • Case law update (the good, the bad, and the even worse)
  • The Patent Office’s updated guidance – analysis and applications
  • Congressional (in)action
  • Best practices in light of the above.
