January 15: AI and Its Place In Legal Practice

This program is presented to raise awareness of a growing ethical issue regarding the use of technology in the practice of law. For many, especially those of us licensed before the significant technology boom that occurred post-2000, the use and misuse of technology has exposed the disconnect between the availability of technology and the necessity of education of the proper use of it in our practices. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the more recent expansion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in all aspects of the practice of law.
This is not a primer in what AI programs are available, which ones may be better or worse for law offices, or how to use a particular AI product. The purpose is to drive home the necessity of each and every practitioner to become educated in the proper use of technology and the consequences of misusing it, with an emphasis on the proliferation of the use of AI.
The presenter anticipates that the participants in this program will offer their own experiences to illustrate this issue in real time.
