Levi Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Chicago. Mr. Stone is the author or co-author of many books on constitutional law, including Speaking Out! Reflections on Law, Liberty and Justice (2010); Top Secret: When Our Government Keeps Us in the Dark (2007), War and Liberty: An American Dilemma: 1790 to the Present (2007), Perilous Times: Free Speech in Wartime: From the Sedition Act of 1798 to the War on Terrorism (2004), and Eternally Vigilant: Free Speech in the Modern Era
(Chicago 2002). Perilous Times received eight national book awards, including the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Book Award, the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for History, and the Harvard University annual book award for Public Affairs.
