August 16: Ethics, Bias, and the Plea-Bargaining Process

This CLE presentation is on the topic of equity, inclusion, and the mitigation of implicit and explicit bias relating to the Plea-Bargaining Process. The goal of the presentation is to develop a deeper understanding of how and where the issues of race, equity and advocacy intersect in the Plea-Bargaining Process.
The presentation will discuss applicability of RPC 1.2 SCOPE OF REPRESENTATION AND ALLOCATION OF AUTHORITY BETWEEN CLIENT AND LAWYER and RPC 1.3 DILIGENCE - A lawyer shall act with reasonable diligence and promptness in representing a client, impact the Plea-Bargaining Process. 
The presentation will include a look at data on case drill down regarding adult felony conviction proportionality, sentencing proportionality, and county wide Superior Court filings and case dispositions.
