Multiple Dates/Web - Innovation, Business & Law Colloquium: Health Care Reform Act

This series of lectures appear to concern primarily federal law, and therefore may be eligible for credit in your state. However, you'll have to check on your own.

Title:
Innovation, Business & Law Colloquium: Health Care Reform Act

91:642
Prof. David Orentlicher
University of Iowa College of Law

In this course, we will discuss the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and consider its implications for individuals, employers, insurance companies, physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals.  We also will consider the Act's implications for Medicare and Medicaid, long term care, and other health care programs.  In addition to studying what the Act will do, we also will discuss where future legislation might be needed to fully reform the United States health care system.

Readings:  As a text for the course, we will be using CCH's Law, Explanation and Analysis of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (2010). There also will be supplementary readings available on this webpage.  For an online version of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, click here.

Scheduling: The class will meet on Thursdays, 2:20 pm-4:20 pm.  To view the class live, click here or see http://www.uiowa.edu/~ibl/HealthLawColloquium.shtml

CLE credit:  The August 26 and September 2 classes have been approved for Iowa CLE credit for attorneys who watched it live (1.75 credits each; Activity Numbers 72000 and 72201).  We will request CLE credit approval for future classes and have been advised that credit will given for those classes that are viewed live on Thursdays between 2:20 and 4:20 pm and that are predominantly legal in content.  The decision about credit eligibility will be decided after each class, and we will indicate on this page which classes have been certified for CLE credit.
