Your online reputation is based on a number of internal and external inputs, as well as technological forces, many of which are beyond an organization’s direct control. For example, Google frequently adjusts the manner in which it ranks search results, recently putting greater emphasis on user-generated content and customer reviews. In addition to search engine rankings, customer review sites and social media postings from sources internal and external to your organization greatly affect your organization’s online reputation. Without proper attention, each of these inputs can yield devastating reputation damage to your organization and lead to offline business destruction or legal problems.
At this event, Nick Pavlidis and Eugene Scheiman will discuss what we can do to from a legal perspective to identify and respond to threats from sources within your organization and outside actors. For example, they will discuss how you can structure an online reputation management program to address common sources of reputation damage, such as illegitimate reviews of your products or services, false statements posted online, and anonymous blog posts or comments. They will also discuss legal implications and restrictions on organizations attempting to limit exposure online and how to balance the risks versus rewards of online reputation management programs.
