April 8: Cleveland - Cleveland's Consent Decree - The Path Forward #MCLE

Join the Northeast Ohio Chapter and the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law Student Chapter of the American Constitution Society, the Norman S. Minor Bar Association, ACLU of Ohio, and the Cleveland–Marshall College of Law and Alumni Association for a discussion featuring Carole Rendon, First Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, and Professor David A. Harris, Distinguished Faculty Scholar, University of Pittsburgh School of Law. The discussion will be moderated by Professor Jonathan Witmer-Rich, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
Our guests will focus their remarks on the consent decree being negotiated between the Department of Justice and the City of Cleveland. In so doing, they will discuss the consent-degree-negotiation process, explore the hot-button issues at the center of those negotiations, and, based on successful and unsuccessful consent decrees instituted in other cities, discuss how to create effective and enforceable solutions to the problems identified in the DOJ’s investigation.
