Managing employee family and medical leaves is one of the bigger challenges for businesses, and as federal and California law in this area continues to evolve at a quick pace, it can be difficult for employers to stay in step with the latest compliance obligations. And now there’s a new wrinkle for California employers: Regulations updating the California Family Rights Act (CFRA) have just been finalized and will take effect on July 1, 2015. The regulations will align CFRA more closely with the federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and will make some other key changes, including clarifying certain employer rights and responsibilities and revising the CFRA medical certification form. In this webinar, we’ll explain what you need to know about the new regulations. We’ll also discuss other recent FMLA/CFRA developments, plus practical tips and tactics to help avoid family and medical leave missteps.
