Attorneys in Washington state can earn six credits a year by doing pro bono services, under APR 11 Regulation 103(f). These are broken down as follows:
- Two credits of the required annual pro bono training
- Four credits for providing pro bono service credits through a qualified legal services provider (QLSP) as defined in APR 8(e)(2).
Performing pro bono services is an ethical obligation that comes with the privilege of practicing law. However, there's nothing wrong with using this rule every year, so that in Washington State's 3-year CLE reporting cycle, you can earn up to 18 (3x6) credits for free!
To get started, contact a local QLSP or ask WSBA's Public Service Manager.
