Apr 13/Rootstown, OH - Bridges Out of Poverty

A FREE CLE for volunteer attorneys who agree to accept one pro bono case with Legal Aid within the next 12 months. 6.0 general hours CLE credits have been requested from the Ohio Supreme Court.

This CLE program will provide attorneys with information about concrete tools a community can use to prevent, alleviate, and reduce poverty. It will describe how people of all economic classes can come together to improve job retention rates, build resources, improve outcomes, and support those who are moving out of poverty.

Speaker:
Doug Denton is an ordained Methodist minister and a licensed social worker. After serving at churches in Cleveland Heights and Akron, he spent eleven years working for Summit County Children's Services. Now he serves as Minister of Pastoral Care at Kent United Methodist Church and is an active volunteer for Open M when he has been active with the Bridges Out of Poverty movement.

CLEs are offered free to attorneys who agree to volunteer on one pro bono case or at a Counsel and Advice Clinic. They are open to current volunteers and to attorneys who commit to accept a pro bono referral or staff a clinic in the next year.
