Apr 28/Seattle, WA - Coming Home to Roost: Initiative 1130

Under current state law, chickens that lay eggs have virtually no protection from cruel treatment. Washingtonians for Humane Farms, a coalition of animal welfare, family farming, food safety, and environmental groups, is sponsoring a ballot measure to improve the conditions they are raised in. Initiative 1130 would guarantee these hens enough space to stand up, turn around, and spread their wings.
The Animal Law Section is pleased to invite you to an hour-long CLE featuring Jennifer Hillman, Western Regional Director for The Humane Society of the United States, who will discuss the state initiative process and how I-1130 will change the legal landscape of farm animal cruelty in Washington. A wine reception will follow.
