December 4: Austin, TX - Money, Politics and the Texas Supreme Court

Fair and impartial state courts play a vital role in our democracy, but a rising tide of high stakes campaigns featuring massive campaign contributions and contentious politics pose a threat to them. David Lyle will discuss the findings of ACS's empirical study, Justice At Risk, which provides an insight into the links between campaign contributions, politics and state courts. Craig McDonald will give an historical overview of selection processes in Texas as well as prospective reforms in the Lone Star state.
