March 31: Break the Silence 2022

Community Legal Aid's Break the Silence is an annual one-day conference focused on serving vulnerable populations who are experiencing intimate partner violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking.
  • Plenary Session One - Trauma Bonding: An Exploration into the Dynamics that Bond Victims to Abusers, Ashley Kline, Direct of Crisis and Clinical Services, Rape Crisis Center of Medina and Summit Counties
  • Plenary Session Two - Providing Culturally Specific Services for Immigrant and Refugee Domestic Violence, Sexual Violence and Human Trafficking Survivors, Samantha Salamon, Ahimsa Manager, ASIA, Inc., Amanda Smith, Advocate Supervisor, ASIA, Inc., Monicah Yonghang, Bilingual Advocate, ASIA, Inc.
  • Breakout sessions include:
    • Human Trafficking and Race: How racism and systemic oppression increase vulnerability to sexual exploitation
    • Intimate Partner Violence and The Impact On Children
    • Sexually Oriented Offense Protection Orders: A Tool for Protection and Autonomy
    • How not to Enrage an Immigration Attorney: Immigration Law Tips and Considerations when Working with Non-Citizen Survivors.
