Join Jonathan Grad of Extra Mile Law, PLLC, for this fast-moving, basic class about lawyer jokes and ethics. We will review some of the rules of professional conduct (ethics), through the lens of humor. In particular, we will analyze some of the behavior lampooned in lawyer jokes and determine which rules of professional conduct are implicated by the behavior.
We will cover aspects of Rules 1.1 (Competence), 1.4 (Communications), 1.5 (Fees), 1.8 (Current Clients, Specific Rules), 3.3 (Candor to the Tribunal), 4.1 (Truthfulness in Statements to Others), 8.2 (Judicial & Legal Officials), 8.3 (Reporting Professional Misconduct), and more, time permitting.
