February 22: Voter Suppression 101 -- What it Takes to do Voting Rights Work

This CLE will allow participants to gain more understanding about the connection between felony disenfranchisement, voter suppression, and voting rights, including Washington state legislation and case law. Molly Matter will present on the history of voter suppression, including felony disenfranchisement, the disproportionate impact on communities of color, and the need for the private Bar to enforce our right to vote to ensure fair elections. This CLE will provide a practical guide on doing voting rights work and discuss current voting rights cases in Washington state brought under the Washington Voting Rights Act, the federal Voting Rights Act and the First, Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments. There will be time for a Q&A at the end of the program.
