March 18: The Rights of Protesters and Legal Challenges to Protect Those Rights

Title:
The Rights of Protesters and Legal Challenges to Protect Those Rights

Description:

The Rights of Protesters and Legal Challenges to Protect Those Rights CLE program provides attorneys with an up‑to‑date overview of First Amendment law as it applies to protest, speech, and assembly. The session examines how constitutional protections operate in today’s legal and political environment and highlights the evolving challenges facing protesters and their advocates.

Led by Jessica West and student members of the Mitchell Hamline School of Law First Amendment Activism Clinic, the program reviews the core legal principles governing protest activity and situates them within current litigation and judicial trends. Participants will gain insight into how courts are interpreting protest rights, how emerging cases may reshape the legal landscape, and what attorneys should watch for in the coming years.
