May 24/Web: Proposed Changes to the Form I-9: What You Need to Know

The Department of Homeland Security has published a new proposed Form I-9, which includes several important changes that will impact all employers across the nation. Notable revisions to the I-9 include expanded instructions, a new 2-page form layout, and additional data fields for both the employee and employer to complete. The public has until May 29, 2012 to submit comments and suggestions.
Are you ready to deal with the new form changes, if indeed they go into effect? Have you considered how this will impact your paper or electronic I-9 processing? Do you have ideas on how to design a smarter, more efficient I-9 which will achieve the same objectives?
Join this analysis and open forum for an in-depth look at the proposed Form I-9 revisions along with expert commentary on how these changes may affect your organization (regardless of whether you are using paper, electronic, or a combination of both). Also, get your voices heard by letting us know your concerns with the new format and any suggestions you might have for a kinder, gentler Form I-9. All comments received during the webinar will be forwarded on your behalf to DHS for consideration.

"We need our experienced attorneys to help staff two four hour shifts (morning (~10-2) and afternoon (~2-6)) where they will advise summit attendees of their eligibility for expungement or sealing and assist those who are eligible to fill out forms.  It will very closely resemble the work we do at the Expungement Help Desk, with the differences being attendees come to us with their court dispositions verses us having to look up their record ourselves.  We’re expecting several thousand attendees and are hoping to train at over 100 private and public sector attorneys.”

Free #MCLE From Free ABA Trial !?!

EDITTED June 3, 2012:
The offer below appear to be no longer available. I'd be curious to hear how it worked out for any takers - it's seems very logical! REW.
--------------
Helen Gunnarsson over at Law And Conversation writes:
"Lawyers, have I got a deal for and a favor to ask of you: if you are not already a member of the American Bar Association, sign up by using this link for a FREE trial membership through August 31. There is no obligation; you don’t have to provide a credit card number to sign up, and if you don’t want to continue to be a member, when the ABA sends you a bill at the end of the trial, you can just write cancel on it and send it back. (Though you might decide you like it and want to continue. I hope you will; it’s a great organization.)
In the meantime, you get all the usual member benefits, including some FREE CLE–1 webinar a month, I think. And we all have to do CLE!
What’s in it for me: as long as you use the link in this e-mail to sign up, I’ll get credit and could (but probably won’t) win a cool prize. But regardless of whether I win anything, it’s FREE to you, there is no obligation to continue, and clicking on the link will not give you a virus or subject you to spam. Deadline is May 31, but the next free member CLE webinar is this coming Monday, May 21, on cloud computing, so it makes sense to join now.
Thanks much, and please share the link with your friends!"
Friends, this looks like a great offer! Who knows, you may like your ABA membership enough that when the bill comes, you pay; or you may decline the offer and keep the CLE. It seems to be an honest try-before-you-buy type bargain!
AND I hope you will try the bargain through Helen's link, as I intend to do. If she hadn't posted it, we would not have known about it, so it's only fair that she get the credit. Fair is fair!
