November 14: Making the Transition to In-House Counsel

This free Continuing Legal Education webinar, aimed at the legal professional who seeks an in-house role, touches on the four main roles of a general counsel:
(1) performing substantive legal work, 
(2) managing outside counsel,
(3) cutting costs and improving efficiencies, and
(4) counseling to manage risk and ensure compliance.
For each of these four roles, experienced practitioners will describe major areas of corporate activity and discuss legal, management, technology, and other trends. Additionally, the panel will examine professional responsibility issues throughout the program, identifying issues that arise in context.

Speakers:

  • Grace Maral Burnett is a Legal Analyst on Bloomberg Law’s Transactional team, with a focus on M&A. Previously, she was an M&A lawyer at Turunc law firm in Istanbul, where her practice focused on inbound and outbound transactions and greenfield investment projects. At Turunc, she regularly advised multinationals and private equity funds on deals. Previously, Grace worked on business and employment disputes as an associate at Leftwich LLC.
  • Denis Demblowski is a Legal Analyst at Bloomberg Law who develops transactional practical guidance and analysis materials. He practiced in-house for 32 years in such areas as compliance, corporate, executive compensation, finance, corporate governance, general commercial, international, M&A and securities. Denis held managerial and legal practice leadership positions in Alcoa Inc., a global manufacturing and industrial company, including corporate secretary, European general counsel, corporate assistant general counsel and group counsel to the company’s largest group of businesses.
  • N. Peter Rasmussen is a Senior Legal Analyst with Bloomberg Law, concentrating on corporate transactions and federal securities law.
  • Diane Holt is the Team Lead Bloomberg Law’s Transactional Analysis. Previously, she worked as transactional counsel for Enel, SpA, the Italian electric monopoly, in Rome, Italy; consultant to Central European regional operations in transition; manager of Central European Advisory Group, the regional legal and business consultancy; and associate at a large law firm in Washington D.C.
