September 8: Microaggressions, Bias Interruption, and Confronting Bias in the Legal Workplace

This session provides participants with a evidence-based foundation for identifying and responding to microaggressions (subtle, interpersonal manifestations of bias) while also discussing how to best consider confronting bias and being an ally in the workplace. More specifically, we'll discuss examples of microaggressions common to law firms and the legal profession, as well things to consider when deciding how and when to confront experienced, observed, or reported incidents of microaggressions and other biases. This discussion also considers how addressing microaggressions, confronting bias, and being an ally to one's colleagues promotes an institutional culture that is inclusive and that supports and promotes DEI efforts.
