Regulators have ramped up enforcement efforts, in a professed effort to protect investors and address illicit activities. In the first half of 2023, the SEC brought a record number of crypto-related enforcement actions, including actions against crypto exchanges. The SEC also reopened rulemakings directed at platforms that bring together buyers and sellers of alleged securities, including digital assets.
