WSBA Leadership Institute Seeks 2011 Class of Fellows
Application deadline: September 30, 2010
We are writing to invite you to refer a colleague to consider applying for a 2011 WSBA Leadership Institute (WLI) fellowship. As you may know, the mission of the WLI is to recruit, train, and develop minority and traditionally underrepresented attorneys within our state for future leadership positions in our Bar and community. Our goal is to have a class that reflects the full diversity of our state, which includes race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, and geographic location.

Approximately 12 attorneys in practice for three to 10 years will be selected for the program's seventh year. Selected fellows will devote at least 70 hours to the program, which extends from January through August and includes eight professional-development seminars (topics such as leadership skills, the nuts and bolts of law practice, the judiciary, public versus private sector employment, and the legislative process), participation in a community-service project, and a mentorship program. A fellow is afforded numerous opportunities to personally interact with Washington state legal, judicial, and political leaders.

Upon completion of the program, fellows will earn at least 30 CLE credits. The program is provided at no charge to participants.

Please consider referring a colleague. This is an exceptional opportunity for professional development and for discovering a vehicle to becoming involved with the Bar and legal community. Applications and nominations for the 2011 WSBA Leadership Institute must be received at the WSBA offices no later than September 30, 2010, at 5:00 p.m. to be considered. Application and nomination forms and instructions are available at http://www.wsba.org/lawyers/leadership_institute.htm

On behalf of our Advisory Board, we thank you in advance for your interest and support.

Judge Mary Yu, Co-chair, WLI
Bill Garcia, Co-chair, WLI
