Various Dates/Illinois - How to Look Up Free CLE In Illinois

The Illinois MCLE Board makes it possible to search its database of CLE based on several criteria, including price. Thus, to find free CLE in Illinois, do the following:
  • Go to the MCLE Board of the Supreme Court of Illinois: http://www.mcleboard.org
  • Locate the question "Where can I find free or low cost CLE courses? Answer > ". Currently it's in the right column. Click on the word "Answer".
  • This gets you to a query page, with your question with the helpful response "Many providers offer free or low cost CLE options.  Find these options by searching for your desired price range. Find A Course". Click on "Find A Course"
  • This gets you a form into which you can put options for your search. Put how much you're willing to pay for a CLE in the "Total Cost" box. You may put in zero, or you may be willing to put in a smaller amount. You should probably also fill in the "Participation Date" date range, assuming that your interest is in programs that aren't over yet. Hit the "Search" button.
  • Now you'll get a list of things Illinois has approved for CLE credit that fit your other criteria. While 4freeCLE does this from time to time to locate newly-listed programs, you may wish to check it on your own as needed.

One oddity: some programs list their start and stop dates as spanning years, apparantly because they're repeating programs. This makes the date range less useful, but it's worth including anyway!
