September 12/Web: The Sunshine Act–Best Practices for Industry Compliance and the Pathway to Improved Patient Care #MCLE

The first reports regarding payments or transfers of value to physicians by the healthcare industry are due in less than a year, as required by the Physician Payment Sunshine Act. Topics will include:
  • The Sunshine Act’s intended goals – One step forward for patient care or one step back for industry? Neither or both?
  • The covered manufacturers and GPOs required to report under the Sunshine Act.
  • Defining, tracking and reporting "payment(s) or other transfer(s) of value" to physicians and teaching hospitals.
  • The new rules and deadlines related to the Act – When tracking must really begin.
  • Recommended internal compliance strategies for sales staff, vendors, meeting organizers, etc.
  • Navigating related state laws and pending state legislation.
  • Facilitating future treatments, scientific advances and intellectual property protection while complying with state and federal obligations.
