March 28: Is the Trump Administration Deconstructing the Administrative State?

The Trump Administration entered office with a broad deregulatory agenda. Through Executive Orders, legislation and appointments, the Trump Administration has sought to roll back Obama Administration regulatory initiatives and put in place policies that will reduce the federal regulatory burden. Two years in is a good time to assess the effects of these efforts, consider whether the Trump Administration has been successful in deregulating aspects of the economy and whether such policies are likely to continue. As the former "regulatory czar" for President George W. Bush, Professor Susan Dudley is uniquely positioned to provide insight on these questions, and identify the effects of the current Administration's policies on federal regulation and the regulatory burdens faced by private firms. Attorneys who represent regulated industries will gain insight on broader regulatory trends and the regulatory environment in which their clients operate.
