June 29: The New Title IX Regulations: Initial Assessment: Notice, Jurisdiction, Supportive Measures and Formal Complaints

This 90-minute webinar will focus on the initial stages of a Title IX report, referred to by many institutions as an Initial Assessment or Intake and Outreach Process. This webinar will outline legally required elements for intake processes under the Title IX regulations, including notice, jurisdiction, supportive measures, emergency removal, formal complaints, and mandatory/discretionary dismissal. The webinar will also focus on effective practices that reflect an understanding of the dynamics of sexual and gender-based harassment and violence, barriers to reporting, complainant agency and autonomy, and assessing patterns and risk. The discussion of effective practices will include the use of template communications, removal of conflict in role, documentation and data management, and integration of multi-disciplinary teams to assist in informed decision-making.
This will be the fourth in a series of webinars hosted by Cozen O’Connor’s Institutional Response Group, a team of dedicated lawyers focusing exclusively on improving institutional responses to sexual and gender-based harassment and violence in the educational context. The series will track the key elements of the Title IX Regulations through the life cycle of a Title IX case from intake through appeal.
