October 1: The Evolving Landscape of Accommodating Mental and Psychiatric Disabilities in the Workplace

Prior to COVID-19, most courts considered in-person attendance at work to be an essential function of employment. However, the pandemic has reshaped how both employers and employees view remote and hybrid work arrangements. Many employers who previously could not offer such arrangements are now able to do so. As employers attempt to transition employees back to full-time, in-person work, they are encountering a significant rise in accommodation requests under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for remote or hybrid work due to mental and psychiatric disabilities.
Join David Garraux, Kira Geary, and Michael Schmidt as they provide an overview of the laws related to accommodating these disabilities and how they have evolved in recent years. They will also discuss best practices for addressing these requests and engaging in the interactive process with employees who have mental or psychiatric disabilities.
