October 10/Cleveland+Web: The State of Reproductive Rights in Ohio and Beyond #MCLE

Associate Dean Hill will discuss the various reproductive rights-related legislation that has been passed in Ohio and throughout the country recently. She will review the laws and discuss the constitutional issues they raise. In addition, she will touch on the contraceptives controversy and the affordable care act, depending on what issues are salient in the run-up to the fall election. The talk will be relevant to lawyers who work in the areas of health law, business law, constitutional law, and civil liberties. It will also be relevant to policymakers and lawyers who work in government.

Speaker:
Jessie Hill's teaching focuses on constitutional law, federal civil procedure, civil rights, reproductive rights, and law and religion. She is a graduate of Brown University and Harvard Law School. Her scholarship has been published in the Michigan Law Review, Duke Law Journal, Columbia Journal of Gender and Law, and the Texas Law Review, among others. Prior to teaching, Ms. Hill worked at the Reproductive Freedom Project of the national ACLU office in New York, litigating challenges to state-law restrictions on reproductive rights, and then practiced First Amendment and civil rights law with a small law firm in Cleveland. She is a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the national organization Law Students for Reproductive Justice and is a frequent lecturer and consultant on reproductive rights issues.
