November 13/Web: A Proposed Information Security Assessment Framework #MCLE

In today’s brave new world of exponential information growth, attorney lateral movement and a complex regulatory landscape, law firms are increasingly turning to information governance practices. Central to any such effort is a consistent method for evaluating information security risks and processes to ensure that regulatory and attorney professional obligations to safeguard information are met. The panelists in this webcast will share a proposed eight-step Information Security Assessment Framework, developed at a recent Law Firm Information Governance Symposium. The framework offers law firms a practical guide for assessing risks and developing an information security strategy that works for a firm’s unique needs.
The eight-step assessment can be used to evaluate multiple issues including:
  • Assessing feasibility of new technology in the firm environment, such as cloud storage solutions
  • Responding to clients, insurance carriers, and other third party requests regarding firm’s protection of client information
  • Determining guidelines regarding taxonomy in firm document management systems
