November 14/New York+Web: Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect #MCLE

With the baby boomer generation growing older, more individuals require nursing home care. As a result, nursing home litigation is emerging as a growing practice area.  In this updated program, attorney Ron Katter reviews how to litigate these causes of action, with special attention paid to evaluating claims, properly identifying parties to name as defendants and the importance of experts. This course also provides a comprehensive overview of the statutes and laws which regulate nursing homes such as the Omnibus Budget Reconcilation Act of 1987 (OBRA) and the NYS Public Health Laws. Additionally, Mr. Katter also provides examples of claims against nursing homes, ranging from bed sores to falls to intentional torts by nursing home employees. Finally, Mr. Katter will conclude with important tips for nursing homes to prevent and defend these types of suits.
