April 27: A Draft Indictment: A Roundtable Discussion about Russian War Crimes in Ukraine

In the six weeks since Russia invaded Ukraine, the world has witnessed photos and videos of shocking atrocities. There have been calls to prosecute Russian President Vladimir Putin for war crimes before the International Criminal Court.
In this hour-long online program, Michael Scharf, co-dean of Case Western Reserve University School of Law and host of Public Radio’s “Talking Foreign Policy,” moderates a conversation about accountability for war crimes in the Ukraine.
Participating experts include:
  • Milena Sterio, professor, Cleveland Marshall College of Law and managing director, Public International Law and Policy Group, who is leading an initiative to document war crimes in Ukraine;
  • David Crane, former chief prosecutor of the Special Court for Sierra Leone, who led a group that prepared a draft indictment of President Putin and other high-ranking Russians; and
  • Irwin Cotler, international chair of the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights, who formerly served as Minister of Justice and attorney general of Canada.
